To compete with Amazon and Bigbasket, JIO has launched the JIO Mart app. In this way, the Reliance industry is trying to expand the scope of its business. JioMart is Reliance Industries’ (RIL) take on hyperlocal grocery delivery services and will be operated by Reliance Retail. It was initially launched as a pilot for Jio users in Navi Mumbai, Thane, and Kalyan in Maharashtra earlier this year. But today, the company has quietly made JioMart official and plans to expand its service across India in 2020.
As of now, JIO Mart has hit 1 Lakh downloads in the play store. This app saw a spike in download after the restriction of minimum order value removed by the company.
Amazon, Grofers, and Flipkart offer free deliveries for orders worth Rs.499 and more. Meanwhile, BigBasket has set the minimum order value to Rs.1200 to be eligible for free orders.
JIO Mart launched in May 2020 and gradually its expanding its business across most of the cities.
